What is the process of creating a website?

The steps in creating a website are:

  • determine the objective and scope of the site
  • produce an outline of the site content
  • start SEO by doing keyword analysis
  • produce content (using keywords) and obtain images and other media
  • design the site
  • develop the site and load content
  • test the site (loading time, linkages, content flow, etc)
  • finish SEO activity
  • go live

What do I have to do (apart from pay the bill)?

The client:

  • determines the project scope
  • assists the developer in nominating search keywords
  • produces content. This entails writing text and obtaining media such as images and sound files.
  • Tests the website before it goes live

What happens after the site is finished?

After go-live comes site maintenance and content management.  With either or both of these, a maintenance agreement can be made between client and webThemes.  Or the client can call us on an adhoc basis and pay the service fee accordingly.

The content management (eg changing a block of text on the home page) can be done by the client, with some training. Or, as with maintenance, the client can call us on an as-needs basis.  It depends how confident the client is with technology and how dynamic the content is.

How will I market my site?

This is the time-consuming part: any new website requires nurturing to be noticed. WebThemes stresses the importance of this activity.

Activities involved with this are:

  • Search Engine Optimisation
  • use of social media
  • blogging
  • writing very good content (useful, informative, concise, etc)

webThemes’ prices include excellent SEO services.

How do I get a domain name and hosting?

webThemes prices includes these.  There are definitely good and bad domain names, so speak to us about it.

A domain name costs between $10-30 per year.  Website hosting is $10-15 per month for a small business.

Does the design cost include my logo?

webThemes includes a basic (off-the-shelf) logo in the price of your website. A custom-made design would be an extra cost.

What is online marketing?

Online marketing is any marketing activity involving the internet. The primary platform is generally a website, enhanced by social media, SEO, blogging, pay per click advertising, and email marketing.

We can’t go into the cost of all of these here, but webThemes can advise you of the expected outlay on request. Note that we include SEO which is directly website related (otherwise known as on-page SEO) with any website created by webThemes.
